I just arrived at a client 3 weeks ago to assist in an NT 4.0 to WS03 migration. This company manages their IP space with the Lucent QIP product. This includes DNS and DHCP. They are presently running version 5.2 (build 20). We are getting ready to sit down with the networking group as well as a rep from Lucent to discuss possible integration with AD. As we all know AD drives on DNS and unfortunately, too much money has been invested in this product (QIP) for them to simply throw it in a closet. I was thinking of setting up a WS03 DNS server for the AD environment and just delegate that ?
Does anyone have any recommendations? Or questions you think I should bring up to the Lucent rep? How critical is losing that new DNS enhancements (i.e. stub zones) in WS03?
Any thoughts? Has anyone been in this situation before (running QIP while having to roll out AD) ?
Thanks
