LTO Usage

Dear All,

I am a bit confused that when I look in /nsr/logs/messages i get the message that 'LTO Ultrium tape MONTHLY.TP1 used 276 GB of 100 GB capacity' how could this be.

I think it may be this is because of compression but would appreciate if someone could explain this to me.

Yes, if you have high compressible data this will happen. NW writes to the physical end of tape but until then you might even save n times on what it actually the "volume default capacity" which you set indirectly by selecting the device type.
