Integrating Crystal Reports 8.5 with ColdFusion MX
Installing Crystal Reports 8.5 with the Typical or Complete installation options will not integrate properly with ColdFusion MX. This TechNote explains the steps to install Crystal Reports 8.5 for integration with ColdFusion MX.
With the Typical or Complete installation options of Crystal Reports 8.5, the necessary DLL files are not installed. You must install with the Custom install option in order to integrate Crystal Reports 8.5 with ColdFusion MX.
Workaround:
During the Crystal Reports 8.5 installation:
In the Select Installation Type window, select Custom as the installation type.
In the Select Features window, select Crystal Reports Programs, then Crystal SQL Designer by left clicking and selecting "Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive."
Ensure that CRPE32.dll has been installed in C:\WINNT\system32\ after the installation completes. Check the properties of the DLL file to verify it is an 8.5 version, such as 8.5.0.217.
Once Crystal Reports 8.5 has been installed in this manner, use of the cfreport tag should function correctly in ColdFusion MX with reports that have been created in 8.5. Reports created in other versions of Crystal Reports may not work correctly.
