I'm using a Compaq (128 mg RAM, 15G HD, 667 MHz). Designing a catalog (each pg a new file). Within 20 - 30 minutes, I have to either reboot or shut down completely because I'm out of memory. I'm not running any other programs and have narrowed it down to Quark because the other programs, such as Illustrator, run fine (all day). I've tried getting rid of XpressPref folder, re-installing Quark, but still the same problem. I've contacted Quark via e-mail (no response), checked their tech*notes but only display info for MAC's. Is it possible to increase the memory allocated to Quark on a PC. Any help would be appreciated!!

i am getting a message that my system is low in resources. what does it mean and how do i correct it?

You guys both need to do:
1. Try holding the shift key down when you import photos. It will import them at 72 dpi.

2. Allocate more memory to the program...on Macs you can...on PCs you can too. Not sure in PCs tho...
For mac users, do this:
Set the Disk Cache size to no higher than 256 in your Memory Control Panel (System 7).
Allocate adequate memory to the Font Cache in your ATM Control Panel. Ad recommends 50K-80K for every font that
needs to be rendered on screen (including italics, bold, etc.).Allocate 3000K or more memory to QuarkXPress (5000K with the EColor XTension). If your documents are complex, you
may want to allocate even more memory. To do this:
1.Quit QuarkXPress.
2.Click on the QuarkXPress application icon and choose Get Info from the Finder's File menu.
3.In the Memory Requirements area, set the Preferred size to the Suggested size of 3000K, 5000K, or more.
Make sure you have enough RAM or free memory to run QuarkXPress. Choose "About This Macintosh" (System 7) or
"About the Finder" (System 6) from the Apple Menu. The Largest Unused Block of memory should exceed XPress's
preferred memory allocation.

If you allocate 3000K to QuarkXPress, the Largest Unused Block should be at least 3000K.
