HELLO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE FOR ONE TO SETUP A DOCUMENT IN LOTUS NOTES THAT CAN BE UPDATED LIKE A RUNNING LOG BY MULTIPLE USERS AT THE SAME TIME. IF NOTES IS INSTALLED ON A SERVER CAN MORE THAN ONE PERSON ACCESS THE FILE,AND MAKE CHANGES OR ADD TO IT AND HAVE NOTES UPDATE THE MASTER FILE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.

As far as I know, you can do like that, just change the
access control of the that database. But if it is opened for multiple users to write at the same time,a write conflict maybe happen. You can try it.

another option to consider is to instead of updating the document directly, update it using an agent, using it essentially as a proxy. just make sure the setting "AsynchronizeAgents" is not set in Notes.INI and Notes will make sure that only one instance of agent is acrive at a time, thus no conflicts will occur.
Do you want people to be able to simultaneously update the same record, or to have multiple users access the db simultaneously, and then create a document (separate doc each time).
Gary (akbryer)
Gary_Bryer@Vanguard.com
