Hello,
I have Arcseve 2000 (box version) running with an exchange agent on NT server.
I bought new server running on Windows 2000 and I want to reinstall Arcserve but I realized I only have the cd but not the box (and the number licence must be written on it).
Is there a way I can find those informations somewhere on the server where arcserve is running ?
Thanks

Check the older server for a file called ca.olf

Copy this file into the C:\CA_LIC directory of the new server after installing ARCserve. Leave the extension to *.olf (not ca.olf.txt or something like that).
When no messages appear in the lic98.log (also in C:\CA_LIC) the license is properly applied.

This will be all.

Thanks I'll try it.
And will it work for my exchange agent as well ?

Yes, the Exchange license is in this file as well

Thanks a lot, I just checked it on my server and there is everything.
It's great !!

Hello again,

I've been trying to do it. I copied the .olf file as I've been told, but Arcserve is still complaining about the licence. Any idea ?

Thanks

Alex

HI,

There is a file in the CA_LIC , called, regit.log.
THis log would have all the registration codes you had used to register ARCserve and other agents/option.

Once you reinstall ARCserve on the new box,
please use these registration keys to REREGISTER the product.

THis is because the "registration " of ARCServe 2000 uses NIC mac address and the HDD serial number for verification. This could be a possible reason why you see licence vioalation errors after copying over the .olf to the new machine..

hope this helps..

Cheers

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

Thanks,
I did found a regit.log file on my new server (telling me I need a key to use Arcserve....) but not on the old one !!!
Any idea ?

Thanks,

Alex
