Hello, I hope someone can help...

Just recently I have 'lost' my default web browser...

Messenger comes up with message - 'Unable to find default web browser..etc'
I am connected , broadband, by a USB modem and have been setup as such for around 2 years..

However, now I cannot open IE6 or check emails as programs collapse immediatley after opening??

However, I am 'on-line' so to speak as I can use Kazaa for p2p connection, file-sharing.. and Messenger gives me notices that I have emails arrived??

I am able to send this enquiry using my 'spare' computer.

I have tried to re-install/ uninstall IE6 using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel but this is 'not allowed'

I have also restored to an earlier date, but still same problem!!

Using Windows XP Home Edition, Cable network for internet

A freind suggestion 'removing' all ports and then use PnP to re-install but I dont think that would help as I am 'connected' , just no ( essential) web browser
Any suggestions??

If you have installed SP1, check / try this:

Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, Set Program Access and Defaults, use the down arrow to expand the 'Custom' section. Set IE as your default web browser and 'Enable access to this program'.

Let us know if it works, because this is just a SWAG.

Thanks for nothing Smah

No such thing as Set Program Access and Defaults in Add or Remove Programs

Can anyone else help please...

If you installed SP1 it will be one of the iconic entries on the left of the Add/Remove program box. You can also go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Programs, and hit the reset key at the bottom of the window.

Ok, Thanks all, I'll try that later... Will need to download SP1
