Hi every 1,
I have a PC with XP pro installed with out the option of restore on. 1 of the HD has a intermitent power supply, it has caused the HD to lose data, i can still see the HD within XP but the folder on the root which contained the data can no longer be seen, i ran scan disk and it reported that it had fixed some files but was unable to recover others, there is alot of chk files now on the HD and the disk space taken up is as the same as before the fault.
Can any 1 help and is there any free programs that i can use to recover the data?

Thanks for any help given, lost some important data, feel gutted.

After running scandisk you have altered the data structure. The best thing to do if the data is real important is to take the drive to a professional.

Thanks, does that mean i cannot restore, i have installed a program called "Get Data Back"?

If you don't care about the data you can try anything you have but the more things you try the less likely the data can be recovered if what you try fails.
