Ok here is the Deal.
We have a Micron, TrekII Laptop.
The d: drive have valueable, irreplaceable data
Windows 98 OS

My son delted the files.
He tells me he began a Defrag but stopped it after a minute or so because it would take too long.

He tells me he rebooted the laptop, and ran Fdisk on the D Drive.
Removed the logical drive,
Removed the partition
then rebooted
then repartitioned,
reset logical drive
formatted the drive.
and now the drive appears without a recycle bin, in Windows 98.

Is there a utility to recover the data?
Is there any way to recover the data or does the formatting from new partition erase all the data?
I know it may cost a bundle, but could I send to Micron or a Data recovery center to get the data back?

Is it really gone?

There is a chance that the data is still in there because it was not low-level'd. Micron or Data Recovery Center still have a chance of recovering it. You may want to contact them first tho and tell them your situation. I know this is going to sound rude but this probably taught you a good lesson. If the data is really important A) Make Back-ups and B)Watch the children while they are on the computer. It's a good idea anyways.
