on an IBM Think Pad T61, system>Device manager>Ports (COM&LPT)
COM1 and COM2 disappeared, i see
COM5, Blue touth
Com4 RIM Virtual Serial port V2
com6 RIM Virtual Serial port V2

when i start Hyper terminal, com1, come2 are not there
only com3, com4, com5 and com6 are avalable
i wanted to connect com1 using cisco blue consul cable to a cisco Router 2811 consol port

any suggestion
thanks Gens

Back to CMOS and see if they have been disabled there.

It may be that the other numbers are really tied to the 1&2 hardware. You might try killing them and let the OS pick everything up again, hopefully putting things right.
