Just started having a problem with my 2501 Cisco router.
We will start losing connection to the Internet, a tracert shows hops from my PC to the internal router, out to the firewall then hits our external internet router (shows a hop on it, but doesn't go any further).
If I reset the router it comes back up and works for a while.
I'm seeing alot of Lost Carrier error's when I do a:
sh int e0
Ethernet0 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is Lance, address is 0010.xxxx.xxxx (bia 0010.xxxx.xxxx)
Description: Local lan connection
Internet address is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/24
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec, rely 255/255, load 3/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set, keepalive set (10 sec)
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Last input 00:00:00, output 00:00:00, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters 00:09:14
Queueing strategy: fifo
Output queue 0/40, 0 drops; input queue 1/75, 0 drops
5 minute input rate 19000 bits/sec, 10 packets/sec
5 minute output rate 132000 bits/sec, 12 packets/sec
11598 packets input, 1919129 bytes, 0 no buffer
Received 0 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
0 input packets with dribble condition detected
14184 packets output, 11971437 bytes, 0 underruns
1014 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
0 babbles, 0 late collision, 41 deferred
1014 lost carrier, 0 no carrier
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out
The number of lost carrier and output errors is from about a 5-10 minute period.
Havn't seen this error before and not quite sure how to correct it.
