Hi all.

I'm inserting a picture from file (jpg) into Word 2002, and a 430 kB photo (on disk) comes in very fuzzy. As a check, I've copied the photo from word onto my desktop, and sure enough it's 1/10th the size.

Can I control the amount of compression that Word does as I insert from file?

Gabriel

Hi Gabriel,

I believe Word will compress pasted pictures to fit the space available but the full picture is included so if you restore the size you should get the quality. You can change the sizeeither by using the grab handles or by using the format picture dialog (on the picture toolbar or by right clicking the picture).

Sometimes I find (not so much in Word I have to say) that the quality of compressed graphixs on the screen can be considerably poorer than when printed.

Enjoy,
Tony
