Losing Map to Local Data Server

Current setup: 25 users log in to our network through our local W2K PDC (which is part of our corporate WAN). They also all are mapped to another W2K server which is used strictly for data storage. I have all the users as part of a group (which I have used Exhange Administrator to create) to map to a folder called users on the local data server and then permissions are used to reach various folders under the users folder. This is a new server, but has been working fine for the past month. I have maximum logins set under the share. I have the "group" shown under both the share security as well as the security tab as full permissions.

Problem: In the past week, on different days and different times during the day, several users have lost their map to this local data server. When we try to re-connect without a re-boot it requests a password. Once we re-boot the computer, their map goes through fine.

Any suggestions as to why this might be happening? I have control of our local server, but not the PDC so before I contact the exchange administrator I want to make sure it is not something I am doing.

TIA

Based on your description first that I can say, that there might be a replication problem within AD. Ask your W2k infrastructure admin was there or is there any replication problems?

Thanks for the info. I will ask them when I get back to work this week.

Just found out we do not use Active Directory. Any other suggestions? I even added "everyone" to permissions to this one users folder and thought that might help, but I got a disconnect again. TIA

In a Win2k environment, if you give everyone Full Control this could present a problem with more that one user connecting to the share. Make sure your permissions for the group Everyone do not include Full Control.
