LOSES VIDEO EVERY 7 TO 8 SECONDS

I have A gateway notebook model W323 uI1 little more than a year old. It loses video every 7 to 8 seconds the sound stays on. By touching any key the video comes back.

This is some thing new.Any advise to fix it will be greatly appreciated .

A little more info, please. When in constant use, i.e. typing emails, surfing the web etc. does the video come & go? Or only when you play a video? What type of video? (Flash, Quicktime etc.) If you go to a website with embedded Flash does the monitor stay on? What OS?

It sounds like some sort of sleep issue. Check your Power Options (Right-click Desktop->Properties->Screen Saver->Power to examine your current Power Profile.

The issue is actually a feature, which is to save your battery from being drained to fast...

as mentioned check your Power Save settings and adjust accordingly...
