I am running xp pro and have an internal linksys wmp54g pci card. The wireless connection loses the signal everytime the screensaver comes on. I have looked for an option to change it, but haven't found anything.
Turn the screensaver off, and use power options to blank the screen instead.
Second choice, allow native XP tools to control the wireless connection rather than the Linksys client utilities.
The issues are:
. that the screensaver is running under the local user permissions, and wireless utilities are running at startup under System permissions; on resume you no longer have the original set of permissions expected by the wireless client software;
. idle time settings, including adapter specific settings to allow the system to control the wireless adapter to save power. These should be disabled.
. username and password issues. When the screensaver is active you revert to the default prior-to-logon state, without the necessary permissions required for the adapter.
Resolution suggestions:
. Use power options rather than the screensaver
. Disable under Adapter properties in Device Manager the ability of the OS to control any power mangement for the wireless adapter
. Use native XP wireless configuration rather than the Linksys client
If you do step #1--#2 in the above, you can continue the native Linksys client software. But, be sure to update to the latest version.
