Hi all,

I have been dealing with this strange problem for a while now, however it still can't find the solution for it.

I have a Dell Latitude Laptop with Windows 2k installed and I would like to connect to our domain server (Windows 2000 server). However, I can only connect to the domain server for a few minutes after I have rebooted the machine. But I can ping the ip of the domain (not able to ping with the domain name). I also get a NetLogon (with event ID: 5719) error. Is it a DNS problem? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

check out:

and

for a bunch of possible solutions.

It may be a dns problem, try enabing Lmhost lookup under your wins properties of your LAN connection. Then create a lmhosts file following the above first links suggestions. run the commands 'nbtstat -R' and 'nbtstat -RR' from the command line. Hopefully this will point you in the right direction. If this works, then something is not right with the dns setup.

Thanks Stiddy. That seems to have solved the problem. I guess there is really something wrong with the DNS setup on this laptop.
