Have a client that looses 10 mins every 12 hours, once it hits the 2 hour behind point, it locks up hard, upon reboot, it is fine time is correct, then the pattern starts again,

have done the following,

reinstall the OS

still having the same problem.

any ideas??

Well, I was thinking of 2 possible things that may have caused this problem.

1) Possible virus, but since you reloaded the OS, it should've taken care of the virus, unless it's in the Master Boot Record.

2) Possible bad cmos battery.

Other than those two things, there's nothing else that comes to mind on the situation.

If I were you, I'd change the CMOS battery first... I have a feeling that's your problem.

I was thinking that myself, but I also had the thought of a memory leak of some kind and wanted to see what anyone else had to say first.

Thanks

This old thread should have some answers:
thread602-664480

Hopefully that will help you determine whether it's a software or hardware issue. Let us know what you find...

Another option to solve either issue is to use a utility to synchronize your system's clock every so often.
