I havn't worked with LOOP start trunks in years, Does anyone know if the Tip and Ring are reversed will the system know that the line is ringing. Right now I have 1 line the rings but know one hears it ring.

I have a site that when you call a number, you hear it ring but it doesn't ring at the console, but if I tell them it is ringing they can hit the line and can answer the call.

DON'T THINK IT MATTERS

not always true.. is the route auto yes? if so the trunk will have an atdn prompt to set the answer dn for just one trunk.. if you stat the card, reversed trunk will stat reversed.. they do not work.. if you pull the jumper off and call the number, you hear ring back.. that does not mean it's ringing.. ringback is a phantom sound provided to "insure" the caller that the call is going through.. in the old days most ld calls would give at least 2 ringbacks before the call ever rang on the far end..

in symposium you still script "give ringback" to let the customer know his call is ringing in.. you don't need to do that if a station is ringing..

trace the trunk while you call it..

I remember about 20 years ago, a friend couldn't get the trunks to ring at a new install but they could call out. the problem then was reversed Tip and Ring. I don't remember if they were LOOP or GRD start trunks.

Also when I hang up the line at the site, if I hit the line again within 15 Sec and the caller hasn't hungup yet, we are still connected and can talk.

that's a feature of the provider, it's called "calling party hold" most older offices have either calling or called, very few had both or eth.. want be much longer and us old guys will not remember the "old" days and analog trunks

You might want to try some of the trunk diagnostic routines in LD 36 and then look-up the codes. These will tell you via software if the line is RVSD/Siezed/Etc...

Ace, also for the not ringing or occasional ringing for incoming call with loop start, in the RDB timers set RGV down to 256. Good luck.
