Loop Start COT only locks up when forwarded to Call Pilot?

I have a scenario where we lease space out and they have to provide their own COs interfacing to our CS1000. Before, with our Rolm, the loop start lines were never an issue. Now with the CS1000 the Loop Start COT locks up for 10 minutes (when call forwarded to Call Pilot) and then it finally releases.

This does not appear to happen when making normal calls to the COT, trunk disconnects much quicker.

I am trying to get the tenant to change to ground start but until then, why does that trunk keep connected to the Call Pilot channel after leaving a message for 10 minutes? If disconnect supervision was the only issue, why isn't it staying locked up?

Tried changing SUPN from YES to NO with no change.

When I monitor the line with my test set I can hear Call Pilot prompting over and over "if you like to review your message..." (or something like that), then when I go off hook and back on hook the Call Pilot channel hangs up and frees up the COT.

Any thoughts?

No thoughts, but until they get it changed to GRD START you will continue to have the problem. Don't know why the Call Pilot doesn't like LOOP START but it's always been that way

like perry says you need the lines changed to Ground Start. For whatever reason the larger Nortel switches and Loop Start trunks don't play well toegether when it comes to Supervision.

Yup, carry over from Meridian Mail. Had a customer with Loop Start trunks and everytime the calls quit going to vmail she would go in and pull the power plug from the wall and power it back up. Funny

Loop start has 50V on the line weather it is looped or idle, so when you go to the CP, which acts as a normal extension, it does not know that the caller has hung up, nor does the PABX recognise it. Thus there is no line supervision.

The CP may be recording very long messages with silence, so drops out when the recording limit is reached.

You could have a look in the CP, config wiz, and the Multi-Media config screen. Here you will find a drop down box for country.

Make sure that your country is there and not default. This gives the CP a better chance of recognising your carrier tones, and could possibly drop your cots better.

Beware the config wiz though, there is a reboot if you go through to the end.
