Is there a way to set a field as a list box with VBA after creating a table with a make table query?? The original field is a lookup field but when when the new table is created it loses the setting.

(maybe i should be creating the table in VBA with SQL but i don't know how to do that either!)

THANKS!!

A list box is not part of a table or a query.
It can only be used on a form.
So I'm not sure what you really want to.
you can have a form in DataSsheet view with a Combobox on it so when you click it the combo, it drops down and shows a list of possible choices.
DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.

well, i played and you can do it as an append...you can set the properties of a table field in design to be a list box lookup for another table's field; what i needed so the user had an easy way to select the right info....then run the query as an append query so i could keep the properties of the 'new' table...

but...this works better if you just use datasheet view in a form so you can write an on close procedure! i'm learning!!

You are correct I don't use the look up thiny in the table design I just now found it. Also I started in Access when it was 1.1 in 1993 and did not have alot of the features '97 and 2000 have. I write VBA code in my sleep and I do what I know.
But yes the datasheet view has a lot more capability cause you can use VBA behind the controls to do anything imaginable.

DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.
