Hello

I'm looking to back up the contents of my machine that is curently running Windows NT. It contains 13GB of info that i need to transport across. I cannot use a Zip disc or CD copy (don't ask why), so i was thinking of using FTP to connect between them and copy the files manually --not TOO big a job :)

However, i cannot connect between them using FTP!! The WinNT machine tells me "ftp: connect:Connection refused" and the WinXP machine says "ftp: connect :Unknown error number".

What am i overlooking? any ideas how i can do this transfer? Anyone know a good shrink :) ???!!

Thanx for any help/suggestions

How are the machines connected? What I'm wondering is why you are not just copying them using explorer (copy/paste, drag and drop etc)? You just need a share on the target machine that the source machine can see and has write access to.

(for ftp to work, you'll need the receiving end to be running ftp server I think - part of IIS in XP, but I can't see why you need it).

yeah, i only realised that after i sent this post!!

i connected via the workgroup and copied the files that way. i was up all night doing this so i couldn't retract the post. oops!!

thanx though!! :)
