Hi all,

I am trying to understand more about routers and I have a question about 1/255. I know that the 1 of 1/255 deals with the load currently on the router, what I am after what the 255 means. Thanks in advance.

The 255 is just the max load of the interface. The actual amount depends on what kind of interface it is. On a FastEthernet Interface then 255 = 100 Mbps. On a T1 interface then 255 = 1.544 Mpbs. It isn't a constant, but it is used as a constant scale for any interface to see the overall load and not the bandwidth.

Hope this helps.
