Looking for explanation of Timeslots 1

Can someone please explain Timeslots to me?

I'm setting up an E1 connection on our 2621 router and I've assigned timeslots 1-31 to channel group 0. I'm only using the connection for internet so I thought that assigning all timeslots was OK.

Each timeslot makes up 64kbps. Therefore by assigning timeslots 1-31 completes the whole E1 (2048kbps). That's what you paid and needed when got this link, isn't it? There you go.
