I have been trying and trying to retrieve the data off of my 160GB HARD DRIVE (formerly my C drive), to no avail. I am desparately hoping this is still possible. But I think I am ready to throw in the towel and cry for Help.
I am looking for a DATA RECOvery service. I am hoping to find a service that will do a free diagnostic, is medium priced, and semi-quick. I know this might be a pipe dream, but maybe I will find one.......with the help of this fine Tek-Tips Forum.

thanks for your time!

It's not a pipe dream, you'll just have to make a few calls to find the one that best suits your budget and confidence.

An extensive listing is available at Just click on the map for a listing of data recovery service companies in your region.

Good Luck!

have you tried using Knoppix?

Well I can tell you that most will do a free diag but I think inexpensive is out of the question with that large of drive. Even if you need a few file.
Last time I had data-recovery on a ID drive it wall $3000.
