Looking for a good firewall

Sygate, Tiny, Norton,...there are others.
The best I've found, since ZA seems to be messing up so badly, is Sygate. Free for personal use from :

...EXCEPT for the fact that the firewall you're talking about is really just NAT (Network Address Translation) technology - a way of hiding your PC behind a non-routable IP address. Routers are good from preventing incoming attacks. However, they are NOT good in preventing internal attacks from going outward (such as from trojans, worms, etc).
It is strongly recommended to have both a software firewall and router working in conjunction - especially if you leave your broadband connection on for long periods of time.
My recommendations on software:
- Zonealarm Pro 3.5 or higher
- Sygate
- BlackIce

You are correct about the router I am using being nothing more than NAT, but my IP is locked down tight, and virtually impenatrable by most computer hackers laying in wait for the netbios response.
I don't worry about spyware or viruses, because I am VERY vigilant about keeping spyware off by using adaware and spybot, and update my virus software a minimum of once per week. I have yet to lose anything because of hackers OR viruses. And I am not sharing my resources or bandwidth with uninvited apps.
I guess I should have taken the extra steps when making my recommendation to include the above information.

Blackice is a joke, it's not even a real firewall.
Kiero is the current firewall of choice, although not free, Sygate is the next choice.
NOTHING will beat a router with SPI.
