Setup:
Win2K3 Term Serv
2Gig Ram
Dual Xeon 3ghz ht Processors
User Profiles saved to seperate logical drive
User Home drive mapped to seperate logical drive (same one as the profiles)
Bucket loads of disk space
Approximatly 15-20 users

Problem:
"sometimes" when users log off, it takes a month of sundays to log off...session just sits there with either a blank screen or saying "saving user settings" or something to that effect.

Looking at perfmon, it doesn't appear as though anything is happening (no disk queues, no cpu usage, no lack of mem, etc etc)

Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? Or anything else I should be specifically looking for with perfmon to narrow down the culpret?

Thanks in advance
Troy

Does this happen to specific users, or is it general? I have seen this when a users profile is either very big, or contains a large number of small files.

brilliant - thanks guys.

The server is a new build and the problem seems to be isolated to a few users - however these people would be more likely to be logging on and off - therefore getting this response more often....so hard to say really.

But the profiles are small (3-4mb).....

Anyhow, I have downloaded the UPHClean and will see whether that helps out - as I had seen one event message which that app deals with.

Fingers Crossed.

Thanks again
Troy

Do you happen to have the SMS 2003 client installed on the server? There is a known bug (now with a released hotfix, and a fix to be included in the next SMS service pack) which can also cause this. See Microsoft KB article 831962 for more information.

thanks for the thought crobin, however no - not running sms on this server.

Cheers
Troy
