Long delay when opening files in explorer!

Sometimes (it tends to be quite often now) when I open a file (word, excel, AutoCAD, pdf, …) through explorer there’s a long delay between the time when I choose to open the file and the exact moment when it’s opened. There’s inactivity in the explorer during that lapse of time and I can work on the other programs that are open during that delay.

What can I do to eliminate that delay of time?

Thanks

Are you by any chance using a roaming profile?

Try this - sign in as administrator, rename your local profile to _old or something, do the same with your roaming profile.

sign in as yourself again which will recreate your profile from scratch. If you want copy your desktop items and favourites into your new profile.

Your file browsing should now mysteriously speed up.

I really don't understant much about profiles. I'm working log on to a personal profile, so I will have to ask the administrator to do that. Then I will tell how did it worked.

Thanks in advance!

I have found that this article didn't really address the issue, however creating a new profile fixed it out right - I have done this on a number of machines with success.
