I have an Avaya IP500 v2 (9.1.8)with Avaya PoE switches and 40+ 9608 handsets.

they have an extn logout button programmed on the handset with a login code and force login checkbox ticked on the user programming.

the client has a logout issue that only seems to be affecting certain users. This time we have an issue between ext 2714 and 2745. 2714 logged out of Handset A and next day 2745 logged into Handset A. 2714 then logged into Handset B and got message Extension in Use. Hit Continue which restarted Handset A and then the User 2745 appeared on Handset B. Handset A then powered up with User 2714 logged in. i.e. the user profiles swapped handsets even though those profiles had not been logged into those handsets.

I could replicate the issue by logging in user 2745 on Handset A first and then logging in user 2714 on Handset B. However, if I logged in user 2714 on Handset B first and then 2745 on Handset A then there was no issue.

I was not able to replicate the issue with another set of numbers

im not sure what filters need to be checked in SysMonitor..

You are logging extns off and not the users, you are doing it wrong. Also make the base extns different to the users extns that log in over the top :)

as per Amriddle
the users having the problem are ed-registering there handset using the logout option from the Avaya Menu key not pressing the extn logout key

Although these have the same name (Log out) they are 2 different functions & would have been helpful if Avaya had given then different names which is why I always describe it as registering/ed-registering the handset.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Thanks for the response guys.

the users have an extn log out button programmed. so you are suggesting that users should press Feature - Phone User - Logout??

if the original problem wasnt confusing enough [hammer]

That or dial *36, that hot desks them around, what they are doing is logging the handset base extn off and stealing it from each other :)

To be more precise : the users unregister the phone instead of logging off.
It is the same as on a PC : You either logoff or switch off the PC

ok i'll change the Extn log out button to dial *36.

i was always taught to keep extension numbers the same as user numbers. should i make these different?

cheers for the help lads, mucho obligio!! [thumbsup2]

If you use hot-desking it makes more sense not to have base extensions the same since users are not tied to a specific phone.

I find it easier for troubleshooting having then not matched, but either works really :)
