Is there a way to logon to a 2k ad server and also logon to the local machine and have access to the local machine as an administrator instead of just being part of the allusers profile. My goal is to logon to the 2k ad server and still be able to install software on the local machine without having to use run as. We are in an educational environment and simpler is better.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I think you want to add the "authenticated users" group to the local administrators group. This way when you log on to the server and you get authenticated as being a valid user on the domain you'll be the local admin for that machine.
Just right click on my computer choose manange (or go to user manager in the control panel).
Choose local users and groups then groups - then administrators - choose add and if the computer is a member of a domain you will see the option authenticated user in there.
This is how i normally do it.

Goodluck,

Pim

Log on to your workstation as an Administrator, then right click on your My Computer icon and select Manage. Select Local Users and Groups. Under Groups, select Administrators and add whichever network user you want to have administrative rights to the workstation.
