I am trying to get a Win2k Pro client to log on to a NT4 Server. We use System Policy's on our network. All of our existing clients are win95/98. I have 50 new win2k's to install.

I have created a NTCONFIG.POL file with various policies set. One of them is to Run a file called w2klogon.bat

In that file there are various commands to map network drives.

If I run the batch file normally, it works fine. But when I run it from the NTCONFIG.POL, it generates errors saying it cannot find the network device.

Is it a timing issue. I have tried setting the policy to run the login script synchronously, but it doens't make any difference.

HELP!! :)

Did you make the Win2K machines part of the network? It may be a connectivity issue. If they are not part of the network then the scripts wont run at all or not run properly. James Collins

I have made the computer part of the domain.

I think the only way round it is to implement a local group policy and run the logon script that way. A bit of a pain though, because that means we have 2 sets of policies to maintain.
