Hi, Can anyone help......?

I have several domain controller server which replicate to each other. Under active directory Users and Computer I created OU called IT. IT OU has only one object which is ITGroup object. User A and B are the member of the ITGroup. User A and B located under different OU called CorpUser. Under IT's OU group policy tab I created a new group policy object links called ITGPolicy. I created logon script (net use x: ... \\server\..) using batch file in the user configuration->windows setting->Scripts(logon/logoff). There is no group policy in the rest of the OU.

Here is the problem. When I try to log in client's computer as user A the mapped drive won't work, I checked the path of the logon scripts and it's in the right location. Any idea....? Thanks....

Refresh the policies on the workstations
Check the name of the script on the GP.
Check the DNS settings on the user Workstations.
Try disjoining and joining back the computer from the domain. A+, MCP, CCNA

It seems troublesome. Do I have to do the above procedure everytime I changed the policy?

no ,just once...

Hi Koquito,

I tried with the above suggestion and it still won't work. I event tried it on the new system with fresh install wiondows XP professional OS. Any Idea?

Is the DNS pointing to your DC? A+, MCP, CCNA

Yes, DNS pointing to my DC. Other policies such as password length, number of logging, etc are working find except drive mapping using net use. If put the batch files under user profile tabs and have batch file resides in netlogon folder, it's work.

So, its working that way?
I though policies were not working, but since password policies are working, it shouldn't be a DNS problem..
Did you try to use GPresult.exe in the workstation, to see what policies are applied?
If you dont have it you can download it from Microsoft, its a small file, but helps you a lot in this cases..It will tell you exactly if the policy of the batch file with net use is being applied to that workstation.
Anyway, i hope you have it done by using the user's profile. A+, MCP, CCNA

Thanks for your help Koquioto.

It's finally work after I moved the user's account to the OU that has a policy instead of having Group account in the OU.

Now the second problem occurs, Windows 98 Client machine can't see the mapped drive. Looks like it worked only in Windows 2000 and XP client. I'll tinkering around with Windows 98 client's machine. Thanks again for your responses and helps.

Win2000 Group policies are not applied to Win9x or NT machines. You can install an Active Directory Client for 9x and NT, but unfortunately Group policies still wont work.
