Logon as administrator

Hi all
Alright heres my ?
I have a member server serving as a data server with users having open files. I am login in as the domain admin. I need to install some software that requires me to be login as the administrator of that server, not as the domain admin. Can I just log off and log back in as the local admin of that server without the users losing there connection to their files?

How you are logged on locally, or even IF you are logged on locally has no affect on your users' open files.
