Login-remote program in the client to connect to ISP

How a remote-login program similar to a tutopia remote-login is made (to<br>give internet service).<br>What are the best tools in order to do this.<br>How this login programs knows what modem is used by the client in order to<br>make a<br>connection ?<br>How it knows what the default browser is used by the client in order to<br>launch this browser in the client machine.<br>How can i send some statistical information from the client to the server<br>and save it in a shared file.<br>Where can I find some examples about remote-login programs.<br><br>
 
I am not a programmer but I do know your defualt browser and modem as well as other information about your OS would be stored in the registry of Windows if you using Windows that is.
