Hello,

We have Pervasive.SQL 8.6 installed on a Windows Server which is part of a Windows domain.

The domain administrator is able to use the Pervasive.SQL Monitor Utility from any client pc on the network to view active Pervasive.SQl users. The domain administrator simply needs connect to the Pervasive.SQL server and log in using the security credentials.

However, we want some NON administrators to be able to run the Pervasive.SQL monitor utility as well.

If we insert those users as members of the Domain Administrators group, they can log in. However, we do not want to do this.

We ran the Local Security Policy Tool on the server that Pervasive.SQL is installed on and made some changes to the "Security Settings / Local Policies / User Rights Assignment".

We adding the user accounts to "Act as part of the operating System" and "Log on Locally".

However, when those users try to connect to the Pervasive.SQL server from a client PC running the monitor utility, still get the error "Login Failed".

How can we accomplish what we want?

Regards,
Georges

You should be able to create a group called "PVSW Admin" and then add users to that group. Those users will have rights to use the Pervasive Monitor without giving full Admin rights.

Hello Mirtheil

This worked. Thanks a lot.

Hi

One other thing. What if we have the Pervasive SQL is install on a Domain Controller. We are not able to install a local group called "Pervasive_Admin" since this is disabled on a domain controller. We tried to create a security group called "Pervasive_Admin" but it does not seem to work.

Hello Mirtheil

Did you get our last post?

I don't have a DC here but tested on one today and was able to create a group on the DC and it worked correctly. I was using PSQL 9.5 though. You said that it "does not seem to work." What does that mean exactly?

Why I said "does not seem to work" was because I was able to personally test this sucessfully on a server with Pervasive.SQL that was not the domain controller.

I did then did the change remotely on a DC that was also running Pervasive.SQL but could not test this myself but asked someone to do so who was on the local network and they said it was not working. Maybe I did something wrong (or they are doing something wrong). I will go over my work once more.

Thanks for the response.

Regards,
Georges
