Why is it that I can only login as this one user? I will explain.....I have a user account (Bob for arguments sake)...I can login as Bob and su to root if I want....however I can't login in as mary or jim or any of my other accounts! Why? and where can I change this?

And what's the error message when trying to log in as 'Mary' for example?

You are calling these 'your' other accounts. Is that to say that they are alternative logins that you created for yourself? Or, could it be that 'Jim' and 'Mary' have changed their passwords? Or, barring that as a possibility, has something or someone removed their home directory, or changed permissions on those directories? Just a few things to look at in your troubleshooting.
