Logging on to a domain

We run small business server 4.5 with Win 98 machines connected. I have just installed our first XO Pro machine on the network.

I can get everything to go but I have one funny.

When logging on you have the option of logging on to the local machine or the domain. It seemed logical to log on to the domain.

But when I do a logon script from the server wont run because it says that you have to be an Administrator for this machine to install software. The user is an administrator for the local machine but not for the domain (although I have tried changing that with no effect). I can get my user on the domain with access to all shares but it doesnt feel quite right.

Personaly I can log on to the domain and my logon script runs I am an Administrator on the domain and on the XP Machine

I note in the Documents and settings folder that I have 2 folders one in my name and the other in my name.domainname
The user doesnt have that username.domainname folder.

Does anybody have an idea of what is happening and how to get my users to log on to the domain?

I think you need to run a windows 2000 dns server with active directory and create the domain user account in this but try this site

That pointed me in a good direction and i found Q315773 which tells you how to set up an XP client.

But thats not my problem I am starting to think that it is an authority or user account problem

I can log on as my user locally and I am part of the administrators group

If I log on to the domain, on the local XP machine as my user I am not an administrator. if I look at my account via the user accounts option I have to put in an administrators name and password, then when I get into user accounts it shows my user as a member of the administrators account!

Can anyone think of a fix other than deleting the users account and recreating it?
