Every 30 days or so I have to log into my Windows server and delete 210 GB of log files. They are located at c:\programs files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail\VM\logs. In looking at one of the files it states:

24/09/2015 00:07:14.818 - Attempting to connect to host domain.com on port 25, local bound address is (null)
24/09/2015 00:07:14.881 - Successfully connected to host domain.com on port 25
24/09/2015 00:07:14.927 - < 220-newmsphost2.directrouter.com ESMTP Exim 4.85 #2 Thu, 24 Sep 2015 00:07:44 -0500
24/09/2015 00:07:14.927 - 220-We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited,
24/09/2015 00:07:14.927 - 220 and/or bulk e-mail.
24/09/2015 00:07:14.974 - ######## START OF CHUNK ######

1) Does this mean someone is attempting to send mail or has access to my system? If so, what is the best way to lock it down?
2) If the answer to #1 is no, how to I limit to the amount of log files stored? either by size, days, or number of logs?

Thank you,

Check the SMTP settings in the VM Pro client and make sure they are correct for the mail server you're using. Hopefully that system isn't directly accessible via the internet. If it is, you need to lock it down.

There is a box in the VM Pro client under the SMTP settings that says "logging". Unchecking that would turn off the logging functionality.
