Location Codes

I have about 70 sites and I am moving from CDP to location codes. I have it set up between two sites with AC2 defined, my LOC's built in LD 90 under AC2, my HLOC is defined and I have DMI set up to delete my 3-digit LOC at the receiving end. My problem is I have to insert the LOC in again by use of a DMI at the calling end for the call to go through. This doesn't seem right. I must be missing something. Any suggestions?

Wait - your DMI at the receiving end shouldn't delete the LOC code - that's why HLOC is always defined in AC2. It then knows to remove it, if I remember correctly... -M

are these switches tied together by pri 2 way tie's.. i refuse to use ac2, i use dsc or tsc to route if i have unique exten numbers, for 7 digit routing i simply use 6 digit nxx's or npa's... example on a tie route to a switch in the 864, my switch see 1864 431, i delete the 1864 431 and just send the 4 digits to the route, 1864 + local to the remote switch deletes the 1864 and inserts a 9, giveing me a 9 xxx xxxx to a local number, if the 864 is ld to the remote switch i just insert the 9 and send 9 1 864 xxx xxxx to the remote, if that route is busy i send the call out my ld route as normal.. i beleive that a user should just pick up a phone and dial 9 +.. the switch should make all routing transparent.. on one one opt 11 here in town, the user dials a 4 digit exten number and the switch inserts the 9 xxx so the user doesn't need to know where the user is, we have ordered a pri, so we can make names and msg lamps work clean

Maybe you have INAC YES on the incoming tie route at the far end?

If you use a UDP, then your users can always dial AC2+ full number, regardless of where it is. Then, at every switch in the node, you make sure you have your HLOC programmed correctly; and tell every switch to insert AC2 as it goes back out (if it tandems multiple times, etc). We only have two switches, so we just use CDP and don't have AC2, but if you are using NARS w/ AC2, it makes it much easier to uniformly program it across the board, and make your dialing plan uniform for your users. johnpoole's way is another working way also. If you need help on your specific setup, you can post the LDs and we'll have a look!
