I work on a huge Exchange/AD infrastrcuture. Literally 100's and 100's of exchange servers...etc. The public folder (PF) tree structure is enormous. The PF's span accross mupliple public folder servers around the world.
A e-mail address - e.g.pensions@domain.com is required for a mailbox resource account, but it cannot be used, as it appears to already be in use on one of the PF's. I determed this by searching AD using an LDAP query - i.e.
proxyaddresses=smtp
ensions@domain.com.
The search indicates that the SMTp address is linked to a PF called "Pensions". When you resolve this e-mail address within an e-mail, it shows that it is not attached to a mailbox or PF at all!?
I need to locate the "pensions" PF so that I can remove the e-mail address. The fact that the e-mail address is not resolving when entered via an e-mail, indicates that the config has gone bad or perhaps the PF no longer exists??
I considered deleting the PF entry which came up during the LDAP query search in AD, but this is probably not a good idea. (Since I dont know if the folder is still being used by someone!)
I have also tried using PFadmin to search for the folder, but I have not been successful. There are hundreds and thousands of PF's which makes searching difficult. (The PF could also be on any one of the many public folder servers, depending on its replicas!)
Any ideas?
