I have a Windows 2000 domain and a client. If i create a user in Active Directory, then go to my workstation and log in as that user, shouldn't the user i created and logged in as also be created created locally on the workstation.

The server is a DNS server and group policies work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You.......

No... if you create a domain user in Active Directory, you do not create a local user... does your domain id have the right to log on locally on that server? Setnaffa is an MCSE-4.0 (working on W2K) with a few other certs, too...

The above posts are correct, but you can add the domain username to that PC via the Users and passwords icon in the control panel and set local (that PC) restrictions on their level of control. CJ

Has the user joined the domain yet? If the user hasn't joined the domain, all security will come from the local machine. If you don't have a drop down arrow which will allow you to pick log onto the domain or the local pc, that pc hasn't joined the domain. Glen A. Johnson
