Local SQL Server Login Failure

I try to connect Crystal Reports 8 to the SQL Server 2000 installed in my local machine using the Other Data Sources, Microsoft SQL server option. I am not able to connect to any database there and it gives login failed. But it lists all the databases in the server once I supply the sa password. When I select the database and move to the next page, it displays the message login failed.

I am able to connect to remote database servers by the same way. Please help me!
