Hi,

I bought a new HD ... and want to share a partition of 8 gig that a made to other local users on my pc . I created an account in the superuser group.
Now when i log in with the other users account ... i can make a folder on the partition but i cant make any file like (.txt . doc) its only folders that i can make and delete if i try to save a file on it 'access denied' ... With the admin account no prob .
I tried to mount it as an NTFS map and placed it into the "shared folders" map --> same error.
I tried to drag the partition (which is mounted like a normal drive h:) into the Shared map ---> still no luck.

In the beginning the account had limited rights but i read that an account with limited rights has only "read only" rights on a map and you can't chance that ... So trough the manage function "users and groups" and made it a supervisor account ... now when i go to the accounts panel i see "unknown account type".

Does anyone has any idea how i can share it ?????

thx in advance ,
Mike

Supervisor" has no meaning as a Group, although you could certainly create one.

. As Administrator, create a new share for the partition, by right-clicking the drive letter in Explorer, Sharing and Security, give the share a real name (not ending in a $ sign), then click Permissions, set to Everyone, and check all the boxes.

. If your users are physicly at your machine, Open My Computer, right-click the drive letter, Sharing and Security, Security tab, Add the Group "Everyone" in the top box, and check all the boxes in the lower box for permissions.

Hello,

Thats the problem ... normally you can add the names to give permissions ...
But when i go to sharing and security i get a box where is written "if you want to local share it then drag it to the shared documents folder" ... nothing more .

Hello,

The solution was to disable the "simple file sharing checkbox" Then the normal sharing options appeared ...
So i gave the right permissions and Ok.

Thx for the help.
Mike
