I think Sniffer is giving me a false expert flag, but what do you guys think?

I have a desktop host with the IP address 10.11.100.50/23 and a server on 10.11.2.5/23. Two different IP networks, of course, but both devices are plugged into a Foundry Big Iron and 10.11.100.50 is VLAN 100, and 10.11.2.5 is on VLAN 2. So, the Foundry is performing layer 3 switching between the two IP networks. When I run Sniffer on the 10.11.2.5 <-> ANY it shows Expert: Local Routing in my capture.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Have you tried setting your Tools->Expert Options->subnet masks to your mask?

Sniffer by default only understands classful routing. The /23 would have to be added in order for you not to get the local routing issue...
