I am setting up a network printer OKIC5100N(IP=10.0.0.100) on a computer named WORKS1. it is running XP pro sp2.

install driver, test print NO problem.

I tried get this printer going with w2003 terminal service.

then I shared the printer as \\WORKS1\OKIC5100

capture port on the same machine:

net use lpt2 \\WORKS1\OKIC5100

and I install a logical printer OKI C5100N on lpt2.

But this doesn't work, I got an error that it couldn't connect.

what am I doing wrong?

any input welcome.

Regards,

Michael

are you using some sort of old DOS program which requires the printer port to be captured?

Try LPT3: or higher. There may be a local address for LPT2:

LIVERPOOL FC - 5 times Champions of Europe. 1977, 1978, 1981, 1984, 2005.
