local conection problem

I have installed SQL 2000 on to my PC and have managed to connect to the server at work no problem. I am trying to make a local connection onto my PC but I am getting the error “SQL server does not exist or access is denied connection open ((Connect)”.
I am trying to copy a database from the server onto my PC so I can work locally. I am running Windows 2000 with IIS.

Any ideas

You either need to set the server name as (local) or the name of your PC. You also need to use correct credentials (login and passsword) when connecting to SQL Server. Are you using SQL or NT Authentication? Make sure SQL server is set up for the authentication mode you want to use. Terry L. Broadbent
