Is it normal to have the Local Area Connection Status light flashing of and on when there is no upload and down load going on from the Internet. I had a Small Business Server 4.5 with Exchange 5.5 before and same thing used to happen and I found out that the server was spammed. I ma not sure about Windows 2000 how secured is it to spamming. Thank you.

depending on your network, it's normal. could be many things happening out there, including broadcasts, which would hit your NIC and cause that "flash".
