Hey guys,

Does the concept of a local administrator still apply to a Windows 2000 server with AD installed? The reason I ask is I have a application (Im trying to install) that says I need to be logged in as the local administrator not as a domain user.

Thanks in advance!
Craig

Yes, the same rule applies. Try using the Runas commend to install the software with elevated priveleges.

Right click the executable file while holding down the shift key and choose runas, then choose Admin and type in your Admin password.

The reason for using an Administrative account to install certain software is even more obvious on a Domain Controller, if anyone could install anything, you could get into BIG trouble.

Good luck... sdibias

There are no local users or groups on a Windows 2000 DC. All accounts are in the AD. Select a domain admin account to install software.
