This is basic i know, but I have two domain servers,(w2000) one of which is across the country from me. I would like to give someone administrator rights on the server out there without it giving them rights to the server where I am located. is this possible? Right now anybody that logs onto the remote server, can see back thru the vpn, everything on the server here.

thank you in advance.

When you say domain servers are you talking about domain controllers or jsut member servers? on member servers you can assign local rights (through Admin Tools\Computer Management). However if it's a domain controller you can't so you'd need to give them domain rights which would mean they would have rights to the other servers in the domain.

I am a new administrator on a small network. the domain server is windows 2000. the problem is that there are some folders that i believe got corrupted somehow. some folders and files are not accessable to the owners and even to the administrator accounts. i have tried to change the permissions but again even the administrator does not have access to the folder/files. i tried to take ownership. after taking ownership i still don't have access to the folders/files. what can i do?
