I have a computer on my network that can only see the local servers,

I have released renewed IP address all the information is correct, I've uninstalled and reinstall the novell client because we are using it and uninstall the IPx protocol and it still only see's the local servers... anyone have any ideas,

It's running windows 2000 sp4

What exactly are you trying to see? I notice that you are using DHCP, so have you done any nslookups with the client (of something outside of the "local" network)?

no nslookups, but the user can surf the net all she wants.

The problem is you can only see the local servers, and everything on the WAN outside of our building is missing... it's weird

your talking about shares on the novell server? you cant see them?

that's correct, I can see my local novell servers but anything outside on the WAN i can't see.

Is it a VLAN issue? Can you see the WAN from the Novell Servers?

yeah, it's a workstation issue, everyone around this person can see everything, i even moved the machine to a different/ known good port and the machine still can't see anything on the WAN

This is interesting, since you are able to get to the internet, but not your WAN. It almost seems as if there are some issues with the network, or, the policy of the WAN requires some additional settings (like VPN software).

what about get a user who can see something on the WAN to log on to the workstation in question? If the wan is visible, it could be the settings for the user in question has a problem, otherwise, it's the workstation that's the problem, just reimage it to save time.

yeah, already tried that... Nobody can see the wan on this machine, I've already got it scheduled for reimage either today or monday... probably monday

thanks

Sounds like a SLP issue. In one of the machines that is working check the Novell Client properties. Copy the info from the Advanced Login/Service Location tabs (sorry I have forgot the exact tab name) and put it into the non-functioning machine.
