Loading word - an event?

I'm responsible for writing an intranet site for virtual phobes and thus I'm trying to make it as simple as possible.

Is there a way of loading MS Word from an onmousedown event? I can do it by linking to a blank word document, or to any other document, but is there a more elegant solution than this?

I would say that linking to a blank doc would be probably be the best method as you cannot guarantee the location of the exe file fir word on someone else's comp Live long and make your kids suffer..
